STATHIS//DAVEY//KIM are a Melbourne based collective of three composers who create site-specific, large scale compositions using analogue synthesizers. Intrinsic to their work is the consideration of natural acoustic phenomena of performance locations (reverbs, echos, and diegetic sounds) as part of the compositional process.

Using the music in this opus, they transformed the iconic Launceston Gorge Scenic Chairlift into 'Chairway to Heaven', a 20-piece moving symphony in the sky. The 20 minute work was designed as a journey in sound, taking in the natural beauty and wonder of the Gorge and emitting differing analogue synthesiser sounds as each carriage floated past. The composition could also be heard throughout the natural amphitheatre as a complete work for visitors on the ground below.
